To the best of my knowledge, my extended family had next to no interest in their ancestors. No one really talked much about forebears, other than the weekend drives through the cemetery to look at stones. Still, that only consisted of discussing a generation or two.
I dug a bit when I went to Scotland, finding that Lockard could be spelled Lockheart, Lockhart, Lochard, just for starters. These Scottish roots were a surprise to my Aunt Dolly, who told me upon my return that she thought we were mostly German. I told her otherwise.
She may have been right. The above list contains the findings from my DNA Ancestry test. I am a mutt, with a family flag planted firmly in Western Europe. The minor traces of the Middle East and Jewishness (Bud Abbott anyone?) are a bit of a surprise, but I would have guessed 70 percent or so would be Scotland and England. Lockard/Scottish and Warburton/English.
Surprise, surprise, surprise. Not earth-shaking by any means, but still interesting.
I don't have any real insight to any of this, just recording it for posterity so it doesn't get misplaced.
