May your hope give us hope

This is a portrait of life itself: The joyous, twinkling eyes. The open arms waiting to embrace. The smile that melts. The yellow headband, new that day, that she wears like a crown.

Ruby would be the first to tell you every princess needs a crown.

She has a heart even bigger than those eyes, which are plenty big. And when I look at her innocent and angelic face, I can see my mother and her mother before her.

So, I am reminded that it doesn't end here. What seems like a morose sea of gray is actually a deep colorful ocean of possibilities.

A little bit of God's mercy, if you will, that gives me the strength to endure.
