A while back I posted how thrilled I was that New York City Serenade was performed in Rome with a string section.
The version I included was audience shot, and it was good, even great.
But this officially released version is a revelation, and confirms its stupendousness (not a real word, probably, but I don’t care).
It is quite possibly my favorite performance of any song for the last 5 years. Maybe longer.
Good Lord it is magnificent. Words cannot do this justice.
Special mention to the great work of the band, and especially the efforts of Mr. Garry W. Tallent, whose bass playing here is beyond exemplary.
