I'm wingin' down the street in search of new games

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Quite the exaggeration, but it seemed that way last night at the The Factory Baseball Complex in Wake Forest.

The North Wake Giants fell behind early and could not get a key hit in losing to the Brewers 11-9. Giants' pitchers were wild in the first few innings and it was all uphill from there. And then they left the bases loaded with the winning run on in the bottom of the last inning (with Jack on deck).

And speaking of Jack: two hits, two runs, and one of the hits was a rope into right-center. His hitting has come so far, that I think he needs to be moved up in the lineup. He can now be counted on make contact and last night, he took to heart when I told him to "swing at the ball like you are mad at it."

He still had a few issues in the field, although nothing as egregious as in earlier games, but he more than made up with it at the plate. And he is enjoying this so much; in fact on the way home he told me he now knows what he wants to be when he grows up: a baseball player who is a paramedic in the off-season.

So the Giants now stand at 7-3, with a game, weather permitting, tomorrow against the Cardinals, who beat the Giants 14-5 in the season opener.

Another loss tomorrow will tempt me to stop chronicling the team as I will be sure I jinxed them. But then again, Jack is hitting well, so.....

More after tomorrow's game.
