The times they have changed

By looking at these ads, it's not hard to tell that men dominated Madison Avenue for many years.
The microwave ad is especially interesting in that it includes Richard Deacon. Deacon played both the legendary Fred Rutherford, Lumpy's father in Leave it to Beaver, and Mel Cooley in the Dick Van Dyke Show.
Deacon's appearance in that particular ad is interesting for two reasons: 1) He was a noted chef, and one of the first persons to author a microwave cookbook, and 2) he was gay. So he probably really does care more that the oven set-up is stackable than the fact that woman has her own "attributes."
Oh, and doesn't that guy in the Subaru ad look like one smooth customer? Just the sort of player who might be able to "tame" that woman.
