Please save us, not the whales

So, an American has killed a prized lion in Zimbabwe, probably illegally. It was a stupid and ugly thing to do.

And the furor is growing, exponentially, and millions are outraged. Outraged, I tell you. Death threats from PETA (well, that's not a surprise) is just one possible method of payback.

What a bunch of sanctimonius nonsense.

If we could just get a fraction of the sturm and drang for a few other issues. Like these:

Guns
Elder abuse
Hunger
The drug problem
Not enough money for cancer research
And let's not forget the indiscriminate killing in the Middle East

And the list goes on and on.

Look, maybe it's a simplistic argument, and perhaps it's easy to pile on for a warm and fuzzy collective cause like a poor, defenseless animal. And I love animals.

Please don't think I am justifying the death of this lion. It's just that we could get a lot done in this country if we could bottle ALL of that anger and put it to use in different ways.

I'm just sayin.'
