I'd build me a castle from memories just so I'd have someplace to go

Sorry about the poor image and its composition...
At right is the product of more of Jack's rummaging through my boxes of memories.

This is from his grandmother's high school yearbook: "The Monarch," from Hughesville High School, 1939.

I've obviously seen this before, but haven't given it much thought in years.

From the description by her photo and her limited presence throughout the book, it appears she wasn't one of the "cool kids." She had an active Home Ec career and she was in a couple of plays, although I can find no record of anything anywhere called "The Slip of a Slipper." I knew she could sing, as evidenced by the her time in Chorus, but the Art Club and Athletic Association memberships are a surprise, and come to think of it, what exactly did an "Athletic Association" do? And I am surprised at the Hunting Club; in fact, I am surprised girls were even included in such a group back then. To my knowledge, she actually never went hunting.

This listing with the name "Fannie," probably bothered and embarrassed her; oh how she hated it. She was always Betty to everyone except me and my brother.

I wish she had the opportunity to be called Grandma or Grammy or the like by my kids.

She most certainly would have preferred those to Fannie.
