It's a desperate game we play, throw our souls, our lives, away

Coming to a theater near me: Richard Thompson.

How near? Across the street from my office.

Just what the doctor ordered.

I wonder is Jack is ready of a couple of hours of witty, sardonic and cynical songwriting. Not to mention perhaps the best guitarist he likely could ever hope to see perform.

I think so.

In honor of this occasion, I will post (again) his favorite Thompson song (extra points for the cheese factor of this officially-released video).

For me, I will post the slighly less-known "Turning of the Tide." As with many other Richard Thompson songs, Jack is too young to appreciate its slightly caustic charm.

But unfortunately, I’m not.
