A fortune won and lost on every deal

OK, the jinx is officially on. The Giants could muster little offense when Saturday's suspended game resumed last night. A 10-6 deficit became a 12-6 final, and the team fell to 7-4. The regular-season finale is Friday, with the tournament to follow.

The lack of hitting again was the main culprit, and Jack batted just once. He hit a pop-up to the second baseman, who dropped it. But Jack didn't run it out, and he was thrown out at first.

This, as well as the whole game, upset him quite a bit. Winning and success have become familiar to him, and baseball failure (even if most is due to the team as a whole) is a new experience to him.

I, of course, still took the whole affair much harder than he did. A questionable call nearly had me yelling at the umpire, and I still am dancing on the line of becoming the "overly involved parent."

While I try to hold that in check, I will not chronicle another game until the Giants win again. I'm not all that superstitious, but it can't hurt.
