When I saw your best steps stolen away from you

Tonight I will complete a bookended morning/night at the bar. What a day.

Started this morning at the London Bridge pub at 8:30 (!) watching a Premier League match between Liverpool and Swansea City. Now, I am neither a Liverpool fan (or Swansea fan either as I had never heard of the place prior to this morning) nor a Premier League fan really; prior to today, the only time I have ever thought of Liverpool was in relation to John, Paul, George or Ringo.

I am, however, a fan of getting out, doing things, and meeting new people. These new found social activities go against my introverted grain, but I am viewing it as a necessary step in my Keep Calm and Carry On lifestyle. I met my new friend Ian at the pub, a Dubliner who does happen to be a Liverpool fan and Premier League fan.

There was no beer and no food (unless you brought it yourself), just coffee and Sunday morning fellowship of a different kind.

Tonight I will be heading to another bar (my tee totaling grandmother would no doubt think this all scandalous, to say the least) to watch the American version of football and the Giants. Any fellowship here will most likely minimal and I will be focused on the game and not any conversation. Unless I can bond with other Giants fans...

Today's total bar trips exceed the number of visits to places that served alcohol in my youth by two. If someplace served beer or wine or any other spirits, my family did not go there. I think my family (especially my Dad's side) had the belief that these establishments were a breeding ground for sin and that nothing good could happen there.

When I was 14 or so, this changed, as my Dad would drag me along as we went out several times a week to vary our dinner patterns.

These outings were also a part of his very own Keep Calm and Carry On lifestyle.

Life father like son, I guess.
