Although I loved the final brilliant blast from Motown, I never really got the Michael Jackson thing. Didn't love Thriller, didn't much care about Off the Wall, Bad or Dangerous. His music changed and so did I.
But you can't deny the magnitude and influence of his star. I was managing a record store when Thriller came out, and it was a phenomenon. In the months after its release, there were days when it seemed like it was the only album we sold.
Still, you're probably as tired as I am of the incessant media coverage and circus surrounding his death. To me this video encapsulates the brilliance, madness and lost potential more than anything else I've seen.
Well the video is interesting.
ReplyDeleteVery poignant and ever so true. And its his mom that seems to be THE ONE who best remembers who he was and will never forget.
